Date: Wednesday 10-12-2025
Class schedule: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Location: UPC School (Badajoz, 73. Barcelona)

On Wednesday, December 10, at 7 p.m., we await you at the UPC School (c/Badajoz 73-77, Barcelona) for a new session of our architectural lighting lecture series. On this occasion, we will feature the participation of Eloi Maduell and Santi Vilanova, founders of the audiovisual research studio Playmodes.

Through in-depth analysis of several of their own projects, the Playmodes team will emphasize the integration between visual and auditory phenomena. Light and sound as abstract matter, unified through computer programming and self-developed manufacturing tools. The session thus proposes an immersive journey through the artistic possibilities of light and music, art and science, mathematics and intuition.

Speakers:

  • Eloi Maduell, CEO Visual Research at Playmodes.
  • Santi Vilanova, CEO Sound Research at Playmodes.
Playmodes is an audiovisual craft workshop active since 2006, a space where art, science, philosophy, music, and technological research converge. They work with self-developed creation tools and a unique combination of creativity and technology that brings to life immersive installations, mapping projections, building lighting, digital scenography, audiovisual instruments, sound design, and other experimental formats.

With an innovative focus, attention to detail, and a passion for storytelling, they approach each project from all perspectives, generating singular works that often adopt surprising forms: luminous sculptures, kinetic instruments, or even projections onto the stars.
