On Wednesday, March 25, at 7 p.m., we look forward to welcoming you to the UPC School (c/Badajoz 73-77, Barcelona) for a new session of our lecture series on architectural lighting. On this occasion, we will be joined by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Lorite, a renowned specialist in lighting and historic heritage.
The lighting of historic buildings must be understood as another form of intervention in heritage, subject to internationally accepted criteria and current legislation. In the current context of climate emergency, the carbon footprint associated with certain practices is becoming increasingly difficult to justify. Traditional floodlighting, which fails to consider these sustainability aspects, is a practice that should disappear. Today, more effective alternatives exist to enhance monuments: more creative solutions, with a clear message and greater respect for urban planning and the environment. ¡It is time to break with tradition!
