Date: Wednesday 08-07-2026
Class schedule: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Location: Online
Contact: 610548181

An Open Class is to be held at 07:00 PM on wednesday 08-07-2026 of the Continuing education master's degree Product Development Design and Engineering (Face-to-face).

In this session, we will explain the journey of Haptika, from the birth of the idea in a university context to its evolution as a medtech startup. Haptika is an innovative haptic device designed for prosthesis users, developed by students from the UPC School.

During the presentation, we will talk about how a real need was identified among upper limb prosthesis users, how it was transformed into a first functional prototype, and what lessons have been learned from the design, development, and validation process with users. We will also share the impact that the Master's Degree in Product Design and Development had on the project's evolution, as well as the challenges and opportunities that have shaped its growth. Finally, we will address Haptika's next steps in areas such as funding, clinical validation, industrialization, and market entry.

A journey and potential that have already been recognized with the 1st prize in the University category of the Santander X Spain Awards 2025, a competition that awards high-potential and disruptive entrepreneurial projects within the Spanish innovation ecosystem, and with the 1st national prize of the James Dyson Award 2025, a global competition that encourages young engineers to put their creativity at the service of society.
